Our Heritage and History

Foundation - June 22, 1947

The Guru Nanak Vidyak Society (GNVS) was established in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on June 22, 1947. The society was founded by a group of enthusiastic workers who recognized the urgent need for an education system to serve the Punjabi-speaking minority in the city.

Legal Registration

Despite facing an arduous task and inadequate resources, prominent Sikh leaders successfully registered the society under the Societies' Registration Act XXI of 1860 (No. 1621 of 1947-48).

Leadership Legacy

S. Pratap Singh served as the first President in July 1947, initiating a journey of educational excellence that continues today.

The Proposed GNVS Business School

Recognizing that "change is the only constant" and that industry-centered education is now a necessity for students, GNVS is proposing a standalone Post Graduate unit in Bhandup. This institution aims to complement existing educational facilities by offering:
